Workshops: Color Theory and DESIGN 101 Atlanta, Georgia

Workshop: DESIGN 101 in my studio.  Have you ever wondered how to start your projects?  Learn how to spark your inspirational juices and translate them with step by step design principles of proportion and balance. Do some inspiration exercises with me then practice by assembling some of your existing painted fabrics, paint some new ones or try something on paper.  Take home finished artwork.

Workshop: Color Theory in my studio.  Explore the variations of primary color to learn visual balance and harmony when putting together a collection of colors.  Whether you use this information for sewing projects or home décor or garden design, it is fascinating and fun.  Paint little studies on fabric or paper to take away as finished art or color swatch guides.

2008 Sat. Jan. 26: snow day Feb. 3

Workshop: Painting fabric 2 in my studio.  Pick up where class 1 left off or start with this one if you have some previous experience with painting fabric.  Learn Shibori techniques, work with resists and discharging, photo-negative painting, basic computer image design and experiment with multiple layering using all the techniques from both classes.  Take home finished fabric to frame or sew into your own projects.

2008 Saturday Jan 12 OR Friday Feb 22/snow day Feb. 23 10 AM - 4 PM

Workshop: Painting fabric 1 in my studio.  Serious play for both beginners and experienced artists.  Learn brush and sponge painting techniques, stamping, stenciling finishing with basic computer and photo printing.  Also learn and try all the varieties of fabric paint on the market.  Take home finished fabric to frame or sew into your own projects.

2007 Veterans Day week-end; November 9, 10, 11

“Remembering Summer”; New abstract remembrances of summer plant life and other season botanicals in painted and quilted fabric canvases.  Open Studio show and sale.

Reception for the artist (me) at the opening of Language of Color exhibit at Anderson-Soule Gallery in Concord (Two Capital Plaza, 603-228-3800). See various color studies in my hand-painted, digitally printed and stitched textile canvases and learn about color theory with interactive displays. Colonial Felt Stenciling workshop in my studio. Learn the colonial art of cutting stencils to embellish wool felt. Learn how to choose & layout a design, understand historical colors and leave with a finished 16” square piece to frame or make into a pillow. $60.00 all materials included; bring your own tools. 

2007 Saturday March 24 OR Friday April 27, 10 AM - 4 PM Coloring Fabric workshop in my studio. This is the class that keeps repeating over and over by popular demand - it is so much fun for all us! Learn how to paint & computer print fabric and learn the color theory necessary to make those design choices. Take home finished fabric to sew into any project!  $60.00 plus materials of choice (average $12.00 cost); use my tools.

The Workshop Classes Potluck Reunion (the WCPR)! So many of you these past twoyearshave suggested a reunion get-together of students from all my classes to have a show n’ tell so we all can see what you have transformed your class pieces into; so let’s do it!. This is far enough in advance so if you haven’t made anything out of your fabric yet you still have time! Here at my home/studio, bring a potluck lunch dish to share and something that you have made out of your workshop samples or techniques.
