Jane Balshaw is a state juried member of the New Hampshire League of Craftsmen and is known for her precise use of color and unique design sense in her original quilted textile art. She comes to her craft with a life long love of sewing and an education in Interior & Fashion Design emphasizing studies in Color Theory. Her further studies have led her to develop a particular theory for the blending and use of color based on the principles of Fibonacci's number sequencing and the Golden Ratio. This theory, she named the Triadic Color Theory System©, is a method she uses extensively in the creation of her textile art and has taught to artists, quilters and cosmetologists alike.
She has a personal love of history, particularly American history, and has found the research of this brings much design inspiration to her work. Her hobbies include decorative interior painting, architectural restoration, collecting heritage plants, gardening and cooking of international cuisines. She lives with her husband David in the colonial country village of Canterbury, New Hampshire in a Shaker inspired home where her studio over-looks their woods and gardens. She is a fourth generation artist.
